Contracting
Deferred contracts are a great option if you’re needing to receive payment in the next year to offset your annual income. A deferred contract allows you to lock in a price and stop future storage charges while earning a little bit of interest on top of the sale. Deferred contracts can be rolled to the next year, please let us know by December 20th if you would like to do this. Checks are available to picked up in either our Ellsworth or Holyrood location or via mail on the 1st business day of the contracted payout year.
Deferred
New Crop contracts or Future Sales and Delivery contracts allow you to take advantage of potentially higher futures bids before your crop is in the elevator. We highly recommend contracting less than 25% of your average harvest totals to minimize risk - if you cannot fill the contracted amount, you will still be obligated to fulfill the contract by purchasing the necessary bushels through the Coop or another entity. New crop contracts can only be contracted in 1,000.00 bushel increments.
New Crop
Basis contracts lock in the basis on the day of the contract and allows you to play out the market for a different futures bid. Cash advance options are available for up to 75% of the value of the contract. Basis contracts can only be contracted in 5,000.00 bushel increments for wheat and 1,000.00 bushel increments for fall crops.
Basis
HTA, or Hedge to Arrive, contracts lock in a futures price and allows basis to be set at a later date. HTA contracts can only be contracted in 5,000.00 bushel increments for wheat and 1,000.00 bushel increments for fall crops.
