  • The Ellsworth Coop has a job opening for a general laborer. This position will assist and float between our agronomy, feed, grain and service station departments. Normal hours will be Monday - Friday 8:00am — 5:00pm. Overtime hours are expected during the busy season. Starting pay of $15-$23 per hour based on qualifications and experience.

    The position is responsible for the following job duties:
    - Loading and unloading of grain and fertilizer.
    - Assisting with feed warehouse and feedstore including: loading/unloading feed for customers, assisting with bagging
    - General vehicular maintenance
    - Maintaining facilities
    - Assists with customers.
    - Various other tasks and duties

    This position requires the following licenses:
    - Valid Driver’s License, with a safe driver record.
    - CDL not required but company will assist applicant with training if interested
    - Ability to meet physical demands of job (standing for long periods, able to lift 50-75 lbs, shoveling and sweeping of grain)
    - Strong communication and teamwork skills
    - Able to follow instructions from supervisors and adhere to safety rules and regulations.

  • SUMMARY:
    The Agronomy Applicator is responsible for the application and placement of chemicals and fertilizer. Applicator can expect to work in a spray rig, dry fertilizer spreader or tender truck.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Custom application of fertilizers and chemicals per specifications.

    • Responsible for a basic understanding of all chemicals, fertilizers, and their abilities of control.

    • Assists with customer sales, stocking, advertising, and inventory control of merchandise.

    • Mixes, loads, and delivers fertilizer products to our cooperative customers.

    • Maintains application and spray records.

    • Responsible for advising farmers on applications for their farms.

    • Provides excellent customer service by managing difficult or emotional situations; responds promptly to customer needs, resolves questions, complaints, and concerns immediately and meets commitments.

    • Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees, and management.

    • Maintains a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the cooperative.

    • Maintains and promotes safety awareness; follows safety policies, procedures and reporting requirements.

    • Complies with all state and federal laws, codes, and regulations.

    • Presents a clean and professional appearance.

    • Responsible for prompt and regular attendance.

    • Employees are required to perform all other duties as assigned.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

    • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Must have proficient computer operation skills. Prior knowledge and/or experience with mapping software and a guidance system is preferred.

    • Willing to seek out and attend additional continuing education, seminars, classes or other job-related education requirements or opportunities.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • · Responsible for purchasing, pricing, and developing effective retail programs on tires, batteries, accessories, fuel farm supplies and service, and maintains acceptable inventory controls.
      · Coordinates daily scheduling for the service station.
      · Responsible for maintenance, repair, and housekeeping for the service station, including other service station equipment and facilities.
      · Responsible for the following accounting procedures: periodic and monthly inventory of merchandise, including fuel, daily cash controls, and daily batching of all tickets.
      · Maintains inventory control of fuel and orders fuel and fills propane tanks as needed.
      · Manages service station personnel, which includes hiring and training employees,
      · Delivers fuel to customers, including but not limited to farmers.
      · Responsible for examining and determining the need for vehicle repairs, including mechanical work and tire repair and maintenance.
      · Responsible for cleaning and maintaining service station equipment.
      · Responsible for ensuring that the interior and exterior of service station facility is neat, clean and in good condition.
      · Provides excellent customer service by managing difficult or emotional situations; responds promptly to customer needs, resolves questions, complaints and concerns immediately and meets commitments.
      · Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees and management.
      · Maintains a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the cooperative.

    • Commercial Driver’s License (Class A required with Tanker, Airbrakes and Hazmat endorsements) or the ability to obtain.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    The ability to read and interpret documents such as general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write various reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. The ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and math conversions.

    REASONING ABILITY:

    The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Must be able to think quickly and perform a mental assessment of workplace hazards, take appropriate precautions, and choose appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as dictated by need, regulation, and labeling.
